You keep on looking at your phone to see if there are any missed calls or messages by chauffeur service provider, to inform you that there will be a delay in picking you up from the airport.

Nine Arch Bridge – Your Guide To A Breathtaking Tourist Spot

A Bit About The Bridge!

The bridge itself was commissioned in 1921 by the British Government and stands as a testament to what can be accomplished without modern technology. It was made from blocks of stone and concrete, and features no reinforcing metals in its design. In spite of this, it remains a robust structure. The history of the bridge dates back to the First World War. At some point during the war, the consignments of steel which were initially intended for this bridge were taken for war-related projects. So when it came to the construction of the bridge, the native people of Sri Lanka built it using other materials.

Standing between Ella station and Demodara station, this site exists as a functional train tour still, and is highly regarded as being one of the great engineering feats of the 20th century. Despite being inhabited by trains still, it endures as being a brilliant place for tourists to go. The views from the bridge are stunning. You get an incredible scene that stretches far out over the valleys, and it’s immersed in the heart of nature. You’ll get such a natural view that you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything that compares. Plus, one of the greatest tourist activities is to walk the bridge. You can cross from one side to another, getting the maximum levels of photo coverage for your troubles. It’s a beautiful walk across, and that moment when you stand directly in the middle and can see nature at its best… there’s nothing like it.

Overall, the Nine Arch Bridge In Ella is an incredible sight and one that you should be definitely adding to your list of attractions when you go to the area. It’s a shining testament to the old ways of building and construction, and still stands as being a fully functional way for people to go. The signature nine arches all help to solidify the image that the bridge is most known for. There’s a lot of tourists that go there on a frequent basis – they’re all drawn to the stunning views and incredible architecture, just as you will be. There’s nothing which quite competes with standing on the bridge and looking out into the vastness of nature. You can see all of the land before you, and you’re also gifted with the knowledge that there’s 100 years of history in every step you take on this incredible structure.

How to Choose the Right Travel Luggage for Your Vacation

As exciting as traveling can be, it also comes with some stressful aspects. Hurling luggage to and fro can be a breeze, or it can cause strain on your travelling experience. The first thing you need to do is consider your travelling style and cater specifically to those needs when choosing the right travel luggage for your vacation. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of some important things to consider beforehand.

Suitcase or Backpack?

We mainly focus on suitcases rather than backpacks in this article for the following reasons:

  • Convenience

Maneuvering through airports with a lot of people and traffic, while carrying a large weight on your back is not easy. Suitcases are a lot simpler to maneuver through traffic with ease.

  • Wheels

Simply roll your luggage with ease. This is our top reason for picking a suitcase.

  • Organization

A backpack does not give much organization leeway. You’ll only have access to a top-loading packing mechanism where you will be forced to remove everything to reach an item at the bottom. A suitcase gives you a clear view of all your belonging as soon as you unzip or open it.

  • Impressions

Carrying a backpack doesn’t really look good.

Hard or Soft?

You should choose your travel luggage based on your travelling needs. For example; are you travelling for business, or for fun? Are you planning to carry any expensive items that might break easily? A hard carry-on is perfect for anyone carrying items such as an expensive camera, or if your vacation is going to be in areas with harsh weather conditions. Hard casing will offer protection to any item prone to breakage.

Soft luggage is perfect for anyone looking for added storage. These bags can expand making them ideal for anyone wanting to carry some souvenirs back with them. Also, soft carry-on cases are easy to stuff into an overhead compartment.

Size

One main thing to keep in mind is to never purchase a carry-on that’s larger than you can actually lift over your head. Next, how long is your vacation going to last for? Many people are able to survive with fewer items than others but when visiting a foreign place, a smaller carry-on is more ideal. Before purchasing a carry-on, inquire about that specific airline’s international and domestic size requirements.

Some airplanes allow smaller carry-on’s so it’s best to always restrict yourself to buying a suitcase that’s approximately 21 x 13 x 9 and aim for a weight of 15 – 20 pounds.

Here’s a breakdown of some popular carry-on sizes:

  • International carry-on size is mostly 18 – 20 inches
  • The most popular size of a carry-on is 21 – 22 inches – This is a great size, offering ample space, yet light enough to lift. You can travel for a month without much hassle.
  • If you’re travelling with a loved one, then a medium size would be perfect. So, consider purchasing a 23 – 24 inch carry-on.
  • For those who love having extra space, then 25 – 27 inches will provide you with lots of room to carry your souvenirs or your clothing items. Also, if you are vacationing with your family, then you can easily fit everyone’s belongings into just one of these suitcases for easy handling.
  • A 28 – 32 inch size is simply too large for a travel suitcase. It’s very bulky and can be very hard to maneuver. This size is simply best suited for anyone planning to move abroad or anyone thinking of going to live in another country for long durations of time.

Sometimes it might be better to purchase two smaller suitcases as opposed to buying a large, heavy one. Granted, you’ll have to pay extra but it’ll be worth it because you won’t have to worry about stuffing everything into one bag or, incurring overweight fees when travelling back home with some souvenirs.

Color

It’s best to purchase a bag with unique prints and colors. This way, you’ll find it easy to spot it on the luggage carousel. Also, you won’t accidentally mistake it for someone else’s bag.

Wheels

Wheel choices come in two options; two or four. Two wheels is the most common as these bags tend to be lighter and easier to run with. You can also yank your bag over stairs with ease without having to manually lift it. However, these type of cases tend to tip over easily.

Four wheels stand upright allowing you to easily roll them sideways in crowded or shallow pathways, such as inside a plane.

Look for bags with locking wheels – this will prevent your bag rolling away.

Material

Always make sure that your luggage has water resistant materials or it has at least been treated with a sealant on the inside to keep your belongings dry. This is quite important as sometimes your luggage might be placed on wet, sticky, or dirty surfaces by baggage handlers.

If your bag doesn’t have a moisture-resistant sealant, then simply line the top and bottom of your suitcase with plastic bags (a garbage bag or a dry cleaning bag will do just fine.) This simple trick will keep your clothes dry even if your suitcase gets wet on the outside.

Straps

Purchase a suitcase that comes with adjustable straps. These straps will help keep your belongings secure and compressed.

Piggy Back Clip

Have you ever seen those looped clips located on top of some travel bags? They are called piggy back clips and they allow a traveler to clip a smaller second bag on top of the larger one – this way, your items will stay secure together throughout your travels.

If your carry-on doesn’t come with any piggy back clips, you can go online and buy one for a reasonable price.

Compartments

Compartments come in handy when you want to organize your belongings. For example; instead of storing your small shampoo, or liquids, with your clothes, store them in an external pocket (this will prevent your clothes getting ruined in case of any spillage). Plus, they’ll be easy to locate when the need arises.

Travel and Saving: No Longer A Dream With Airline Travel Deals

There was once a time when travelling through air was considered to be a luxury. However, at present, with the rise in the number of flights available to travel to any part of the world, that is no longer a problem. In fact, in today’s world, air travel has become such an important part of everyone’s life that it is unthinkable to imagine the world without it. And with the advent of air travels at its present level, it is only to be expected that unique niches of untapped potential will rise up as well. That is where airline travel deals have popped up. Indeed, most people nowadays always consider the travel related offers readily available on the internet and elsewhere before booking any flight at all.

However, looking at the present level of economic crunch that the world is going through, it is only natural that airline travel costs would rise as well. That is where it is most important to consider hidden deals. First thing is to be ready to change dates based on the price. Holidays like Easter and Christmas are bound to generate more air traffic, translating into a higher cost of travel. Be ready to go a few days ahead of schedule to your destination in order to save up on those bucks. If you are looking for airline travel deals, be ready to be a little flexible.

Airline travel deals are not dependent on dates alone. If you want to save up on that precious money, be ready to take a detour. Look for flights to secondary airports. More often than not, these are not frequented by many people due to obvious reasons and hence, you can usually get good deals for these. Additionally, adjusting your destination in cases when you are opting for a holiday outside your country can be a good idea as well. Opt to visit places not usually frequented by other travellers. Not only does this help you avoid those annoying crowds, it also gives you a good chance to save up on funds which can used up elsewhere.

Be on the watch out for good deals. Remember, there is something called a frequent flier mile program always available to us. Most of us might choose to ignore it, but it remains a point nevertheless that some of the best airline travel deals are related with how good you are with your finance. Let’s be honest here. No one likes to spend for something which can be obtained for free. Do all your spending on card. Most banks provide good travel deals with these. There are even certain forums on the internet which emphasize on which routes to take to earn the most of the free miles. In fact, it has been seen that people who do these bonus routes more often usually spend the least on the long run. Granted that these might be more costly initially, but when it actually starts paying you back, these free miles are worth their weight in gold.

Are you a student? Do not fail to sign up for the student discounts available. You might not realize this, but the amount of discounts they actually provide can be quite substantial. Also, another point to keep in mind while looking for airline travel deals is that choice of comparison and search engines matters a lot. In most cases, these do not provide fair reviews as almost all have tie ups with some airline company. Not only that; quite a few popular ones do not even have all international airlines listed. Opt for global search engines and then also compare a few to check out the lowest fare. You never know when you might hit jackpot.

Finally, book early. Almost all airlines provide discounts if you book your ticket early. Remember- “the early bird gets the worm”. Of course, there is no alternative to dedication. If you truly wish it, you can undoubtedly save up on some serious cash while traveling. Bon voyage.

The Benefits of Using Airport Car Services

Traveling to an airport can be frustrating, stressful, and hectic, especially if you are traveling with a lot of luggage and small children. If wishing to minimize the difficulties that are associated with traveling to the airport, you might find using a taxi or car hire service is likely to be very desirable. A wide range of benefits are likely to be experienced by the traveler that is able to pre-book the transportation to or from the airport terminal.

By using the services of an airport car service you are able to enjoy a much more relaxing and comfortable ride, which is a lot more desirable than getting the alternative forms of transportation, such as buses and trains. Here are some of the main advantages of relying on the car hire service as a means of transportation to the airport:

Highly convenient: By using an airport car service you are able to travel alone, cheaply, and safely. If you are likely to be hiring the car service with travel companions, then you are able to split the cost between those on board which should result in a very cost-effective way to get to the airport.

Fast and reliable: A car service is able to pick you up at your home and drive you directly to the airport using the fastest and most convenient route possible. This is likely to be much faster option then the alternatives of using the bus or train, especially in those situations where you might need to make multiple changes on the way to the airport.

Less stress: A further quality aspect of booking the car or taxi services to the airport is the journey is likely to be that much more relaxed and stress-free. They are often very easy to reserve ahead of time to make sure you have access to the right sized vehicle for the date and time of the planned journey.

Alternative means of transportation to the airport are available, but in general these are not as desirable. A rental car is a viable option for traveling to the airport, but this can be quite expensive even if rented for just the single trip. You also need to consider the cost related to filling the car with gas for the journey.

All in all, if you really want to rely on a fast and convenient service for traveling to the airport you will certainly benefit from using the friendly and professional drivers offered by the car services.

California Missions

From 1769 to 1823, Spain built missions all along the California coast in their appeal to convert the indigenous people to Christianity and as strongholders for their newly claimed territories. Twenty-one Spanish missions can be found along the 'King's Highway' in California, which is today Highway 101. California Missions are the oldest structures in state and feature early churches, cemeteries, bell towers, garden courtyards, living quarters and more. They once served as trade centers for food, grain, hides, wine and more. Today, they are tourist attractions and some are still active churches.

The majority of the missions can be found on the Central Coast of California. Some are easily accessible in touristy towns like Carmel, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara while others including the San Antonio, San Miguel and La Purisima Missions are in more remote regions. San Juan Bautista Mission is one of the largest and was known as the 'Mission of Music'. It was also prominently featured in the Hitchcock classic, Vertigo . The Carmel Mission was known as the 'Crown Jewel of the Missions' for its beautiful grounds and location at the mouth of the Carmel River. It is also the burial place of Padre Junipero Serra who found most of the California Missions. The impressive Santa Barbara Mission was known as the 'Queen of the Missions' for its size and beauty. The Santa Inez Mission is located just north of the Gaviota pass near Solvang and was known as the 'Mission of the Passes'.

The San Francisco region houses 5 California Missions. The San Francisco Solano Mission is located in Sonoma wine country and was the last to be built in the state. It harbors an infamous past of a Padre who was especially cruel to the natives. The Dolores Mission is located near downtown San Francisco and rarely survived the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. Other Bay Area missions can be found in San Rafael, San Jose and Santa Clara.

There are 5 missions in Southern California that are spread out between Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties. San Diego has the distinction of having not only the first California Mission, but the largest as well. The San Luis Rey Mission is located in Oceanside and was known as the 'King of the Missions' for its grand size. The San Juan Capistrano Mission in Orange County is renamed for the swallows that return every year around March 19th. Two Missions stay on the outskirts of Los Angeles including the San Gabriel Mission which was known as the 'Pride of the Missions' for its once productive trade of crops, hides and wine.

All California Missions are visitor friendly. Many of them are still active churches and open to the public with most having museums and gift shops. All are very picturesque with fountains, grottos, gardens, mission bells and elaborate churches. They've been tested to the extreme by earthquakes and fires over the decades, sometimes leaving them mostly adobe structures in ruins. Some retain their ruinous appearance while others have been restored to their original glory. Every mission is unique in its design and history. Entry fees are minimal for such splendid beauty and historic significance.

Car Rental in Los Angeles – Best Places to Drive Your Rental Car in Los Angeles

There are several great drives to seek out while enjoying the rental car. Of course most travelers will want to avoid the freeways during rush hours, but there are plenty of scenic routes to see in Los Angeles. Perhaps one of the most beautiful drives is Pacific Coast Highway. Situated along the bluffs overlooking the beaches and Pacific Ocean, PCH offers an unrivaled combination of scenic attractions. Commonly referred to on street signs as "PCH", this highway's most beautiful route is between Laguna Beach and Malibu. Sometimes the traffic is slow, but that gives the traveler a great chance to snap photos and take in the scenery.

Another great drive in Los Angeles is the stretch of Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. This street is well-known for housing famous celebrities. It is not uncommon to pass celebrities, paparazzi or other famous people while taking this scenic route. Winding and open, the road resemblies a mellow mountain drive.

Griffith Park is another interesting area to drive through in Los Angeles. Located in West Los Angeles, Griffith Park has many long and winding roads surrounded by lush trees, greenery and lowers. It is very common to see wild coyotes running through the park. Drivers may want to stop and look through the observatory over Hollywood and West LA

These are just a few of the best places to drive in Los Angeles with your rental car. For more information and articles on this subject please see our website address located in the Author Signature below.

Book a Flight Online and Save Money Using These Tips

Whether you need to travel to another city or another country, it’s never been easier to book a flight. There are many options for travelers. The airline companies themselves offer booking services via the internet, phone, and in person. There are also budget travel sites that simplify the whole process by allowing you to compare all of the rates from every airline at once and choose which one would most suit your preferences.

There are many things to consider when booking a flight: departure city, departure date, arrival city, arrival date, whether or not you want a round trip, number of nights you’ll be at your destination, whether or not you want to book a car rental and/or hotel along with the flight, and so forth. Luckily, all of this is made easy with the use of online search and comparison tools. You can experiment with the dates and times as well as the destinations to get an idea of the price range. The more flexible you are, the easier it will be to get a cheaper price.

Age is an important factor as well – especially if you’ll be traveling with children or the elderly. Ticket prices are different for adults and children 17 and under. For older adults, senior discounts may be available. While credit / debit cards are the primary methods of payment preferred by the airline industry, there are a few airlines who accept PayPal and unused travel funds. You might also have flyer points or gift cards that you can redeem.

Price Alerts Will Help You Book a Flight

Be sure to sign up for price alerts before you book a flight. Tickets can fluctuate considerably – even on a daily basis. Even a small decrease can result in large savings if you have to buy tickets for relatives or associates. Some online sites and tools even allow you to set your own budget, and will notify you when a ticket becomes available within your budget range.

Determine whether or not it would be cheaper to book a long haul flight yourself. If you are flying a long distance, consider that it might be cheaper to book two or three legs of the trip separately by adding another destination or two to the trip. For example, if you need to fly from Europe to Alaska, it might be cheaper to first book a trip to Atlanta, then book a trip from Atlanta to Chicago, then fly from Chicago to Seattle, and then finally onto Alaska by taking budget airlines who offer smaller trips.

The best thing to do is to use a travel shopping comparison site that will allow you to compare all of the prices from all of the airlines on the dates you enter at once. Choose the option that best suits your needs and book a flight as well as hotel room and car rental if you need to.

Whether you want to book a flight for a business trip or a vacation, the best place to begin your search is online. The site will not only uncover the best airfare rates, but hotel rates and car rental discounts as well. You can create your entire itinerary and save money in the process by using online coupons.

Traveling to Japan – Do You Need a Japan Visa?

Planning Ahead

Do you need a Japan visa ?

If you're planning to travel on vacation anywhere in the world, you should always check out the visa and other requirements that your country of destination may need before allowing you to enter. Japan is no exception, but as long as you arrive prepared you should not have any problems.

The other thing you need to confirm is that your passport is valid and that you have enough room in it for any visas or stamps that you will need!

Who Needs A Japan Visa?

Japan has some good reciprocal agreements in place with a number of different countries which means that, if you're lucky enough to come from one of these locations, you can book your holiday to Japan without needing to apply for a Japan visa .

In this case, once you land at Tokyo Narita International Airport or one of the other major airports around the country, you will need to get a landing permission stamp in your passport as you pass through immigration.

There are some landing requirements that are now a necessary part of getting your landing permission. Essentially you will be asked to provide immigration with a set of your fingerprints and a photo. It's very quick and easy to do and you will do it as you enter the country. On average it takes me about 3 minutes to go through this process.

Whatever your feelings about this particular part of the immigration process, please be aware that this procedure is not an option. If you want to enter Japan it is mandatory so argue about this one is not going to get you anywhere.

If your country is not eligible for landing permission status you will need to check with the Japanese Embassy what the particular requirements for entry are as they differ for each country.

Planning On Staying Longer? Want To Study Or Work?

If you are visiting Japan for anything other than a vacation then you will need to apply for the appropriate Japan visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Japan lists the different kinds of visas available and includes downloadable PDFs of the paperwork you will need to fill out with guidelines.

Whether you're looking to study, work full time, or want to take advantage of a working holiday agreement that certain countries have established with Japan, you must prepare well in advance.

Make sure you come with all the necessary documentation required as any failure to do this may well mean that you are not able to enter the country. You'll be put on a flight back home which you will also have to pay for. Not the Japan visa result you're looking for!
