Reasons Why Car Rental Companies Ask For Flight Numbers

There is an unbelievable amount of car rental services competing for a prospective customers business. A person can feel that they have no chose but to give into whatever the customer service representative request, no matter how unpleasant the service they provide. After leaving a flight that is unusually difficult or uncomfortable, the thing that can make it worst would be if, the car that was suppose to be reserved for them will not be available after all. This is why car rental companies ask for flight number. Hopefully by doing this it will avoid future problems.

There are some other good reasons why car rental companies ask a customer to leave flight information. In some instances honoring a reservation can be impossible. To make sure that the best service is rendered the rental companies try to make arrangements that will keep everything running smoothly.

Because they know that an accident could happen at any time, or maintenance problems may occur, and let us not forget the customer needing the car for an additional amount of time, they take precaution to be prepared.

The way these unfortunate situations are avoided is by having a large fleet and by getting as much information as possible, about the customers travel arrangements. Unfortunately the revelation of what some may think is too much information, can leave a person feeling invaded. Most people that are not aware of the process will soon come to understand, after proper explanations by the car rental representative, that this is a policy set aside to make everything go smoothly.

If a flight is delaying a consumer from arriving at the time that was previously agreed upon, the representative is aware of this because they have a flight number. At this time they can govern themselves accordingly by making sure the reservation stands.

Security is one of the most important things to consider when making flight plans. It is essential for the airport to weigh the activities of everyone entering and exiting the facility. There have been new policies put in place in order to protect the people in the airport. It is best for all concerned to keep everyone progressing toward their final destination.

By having the time their customer is expected to arrive and knowing the flight they are supposed to arrive on will help to make this possible. Most airport security will not tolerate a person standing around for too long.

Hopefully this has made a person more at ease about giving their flight number to the person taking the reservation at the rental car company, Knowing the reason behind this process, makes it a little more easily understood. It is highly unlikely that, after making an uncomfortable flight, anyone wants to simply stand around and wait for a car that they made reservations for several days previously. Most people just want to walk up to the counter, give their conformation number, and receive a key to a car that is waiting just for them. This can be made possible by giving the information that is requested of them, at the time that their reservation was taken.

Travel in Grandeur With a Wedding Limo Service on Your Special Day

Celebrating a wedding calls for consummate multi-tasking skills and the ability to maintain your composition in the middle of, what usually looks like appearance chaos.

Wedding invitations, wedding cake, wedding wine, decorations in the church and hall, the bridal gown, wedding bouquets and myriad other 'must dos' dominate your mind and your wallet. Having a great wedding limo service is a blessing because that is one stress ingredient off your mind.

Track Record
The service provider must have not only ample experience in transporting brides and bridgrooms, but also an imprecable track record in safety, security, punctuality and comfort.

The occasion is extraordinarily special and demands the highest quality service in terms of the majesty and elegance of the vehicle, the culture, grace, and discretion of the chauffeur.

Pricing
A wedding day is made up of hundreds of dynamic events that must be integrated to make one whole.

Ground transportation is just one of these cogs in the wedding day wheel. Of course, you would not want to be tight-fisted when making the arrangements for your wedding day but that is not the same as an unwarranted splurge.

Look for a service provider who offers a short duration package with additional hours tagged on if demanded. Generally, a wedding limo service with a three hours package should be adequate to drive the bride and the bridegroom independently to the wedding ceremony and, thereafter, to the wedding reception.

Alternately, you could look for a customized package – 2 hours at the ceremony and 2 hours on the conclusion of the celebrations.

Comforts
The limousine will be steered by a chauffeur dressed in a tuxedo and a chauffeur's hat with a crown and a gleaming visor, and the car will be equipped with bottled water, exquisite champagne, ice cubes, delicate flute glasses and designer folded napkins.

The bridal couple will enjoy the personal but unobtrusive attention of the chauffeur and their every wish will be his command.
Fleet

The professional service provider will have a wide choice of limousines – Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln Town Car, Yukon GMC and models of Porsche, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, etc.

Coordinate with the wedding planner to determine the maximum number of people that would have to be ferried in the car for wedding party travel to the photography studio for family photographs, to the reception venue, etc. and hire a limousine with adequate capacity, or perhaps two limousines, one for the bridal couple and another for the immediate family.

Special Guests
There are guests, there are special guests and then there are very special guests. You would not want the last category to stand in line for a town taxi.

The best solution is to arrange for a pick up from the airport by an airport limo service. You could make the reservation on the phone or on the service provider's website or through a mobile app.
Make sure that you share the flight details of your very special guest with the ground transportation provider, who will track the flight arrival and tweak the pick-up time at the gate to ensure that you do not incur more expenses on waiting time fees than what is essential. You could even choose to have your guest picked up at the curbside outside the airport terminal, although you may prefer to instruct a meet-and-greet service in the baggage claim area (for an additional fee).

Personalized care is the hallmark of excellence in service, and never more so than in providing a wedding limo service because these are memories that last forever and you want the service to be remembered for all the right reasons.

Tenerife Cheap Car Hire – Are You Getting A Good Deal?

Brief Background:

If you're traveling to Tenerife for the first time then here are some basic facts that you might find useful.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and rumour has it that it is the most popular when it comes to the annual influx of holiday-makers from across Europe.

Tenerife enjoys good year round weather conditions with slightly little difference between summer and winter month temperatures.

The scenery is stunning and when coupled with the low cost of living and alluring night-life in the main resort towns of Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos, it's no wonder that it has become a firm favorite for many.

Driving

Driving around Tenerife's highways and byways is the best way to get to know the island and discover its dramatic scenery and picturesque villages.

The Tinerfeños as the locals are known are quite a sociable lot and tend sometimes to use driving around as way of catching up on the local gossip often stopping in the middle of road to engage in conversation with family and friends.

On arrival you basically have 2 choices of pick up and drop of locations namely:

1. Tenerife Norte – Los Rodeos Apt
2. South Tenerife – Reina Sofia Airport

For either of the above drop off / pick up locations the cost of hiring a car is roughly the same.

But do make sure that you specify the correct airport on your booking form as this will help to avoid needless time loss and confusion on arrival.

Typical Car Hire Rates:

Hire rates tend to vary greatly depending on the size, make and model. But in the main, most car hire companies will quote you roughly around £ 135 for an Economy Volkswagen Fox 2 dr. with AC Manual for 7 days. For those after something more sport, a 'soft-top' Volkswagen Eos Cabrio with Ac, Manual may just fit the bill. Cars with that kind of, high-spec and flashy looks do not come cheap at around the £ 440 mark for a week's hire. A 2-dr and 4-dr version are both available with the 4 -dr. version approximately £ 20 cheaper to hire for the week.

So, are you getting a good deal?

When it comes to hiring a car in Tenerife it does pay to check exactly what is and is not included in your hire rates as this does vary from company to company.

For instance your hire company should include these as standard:

1. Unlimited mileage
2. Local taxes
3. Airport hire
4. Apartment / Hotel Delivery Service
5. Driver insurance
6. Car theft insurance
7. Civil liability
8. 24 hours emergency phone service
9. Low excess charge

If not, do shop around particularly online where you can easily compare different supplier rates and offers.

Other options that you might want to look out for are:

  • Child Seat – what's the daily hire cost?
  • Does the company offer – Out of hours Pickup / Drop off?
  • Surcharges if any for drivers aged 25 or younger or aged 70 or older?

TIP: For rentals concluding at airport locations make sure that your booking form has accurate flight information. This is essential to ensure a timely service in case your flight is delayed.

In Conclusion

If you want to save yourself some time and hassle then click on the Tenerife cheap car hire link in the signature below to get instant access to a review of top supplier offers.

Really Cheap Airfare – 14 Tips to Finding Inexpensive Airline Tickets

Traveling by air is exciting and fun, but often can be expensive, especially in light of gas prices nowdays. I often hear people talking about finding really cheap airfare online, so I set out to see what I could find on the Internet. Here are 14 tips to help you find inexpensive airline tickets.

1. Purchase a package. Buy airplane tickets, hotel, and car rental together and often you can save when comparing individual prices.

2. Flying one way is great but also usually the most expensive. You can save money by opting for connecting flights.

3. Check neighboring cities. As an example, if you are planning on flying into Orlando, FL, look for prices for flights to Tampa instead. You might save a little on your fare and still not drive too far out of your way.

4. As long as you are not flying out of the country, try one of the smaller airlines and you will usually save on the purchase price this way.

5. If you've been waiting for the last minute, go online to the main website for the airlines and see if they have any discounted prices available for last-minute flights. Normally you will pay more at this time but sometimes the flight will not be filled and you may find yourself a great deal.

6. Be patient and wait for an excellent price to come up. But do not be too patient! If you see something great go ahead and snap it up. Always have in mind what your definition of a "great price" is so you'll be ready to grab it at a moment's notice. You never know when those awesome prices will show up.

7. You should try to be as flexible as possible with your travel dates. Adjusting your dates by just one day can result in a better fare.

8. Do not only only on the online travel agencies. Also check the airline's main site. Sometimes you can save money this way because the agencies will often charge a fee when you go through them. Also as an added benefit, if you have any issues or problems, it's quicker and easier to correct when dealing with a live person rather than a website. Believe me, I speak from experience on this one!

9. You can find good prices at all different times but mornings can sometimes be an excellent time to browse for inexpensive airline tickets. And do not feel you have to stay over on a Saturday in order to get a better price. In the past this was thought to be helpful but not so much anymore.

10. Do not forget to sign up for frequent flyer miles. It's quite surprising how often people do not take advantage of this perk. Even if you fly different airlines, sign up for each airline's frequent flyer program. The pages add up faster than you realize.

11. This idea will not always work but is worth a try. If you are only interested to fly one-way, check for round-trip prices too because there are times when it is actually cheaper to fly round-trip.

12. If you plan to fly on a holiday be sure to book your fares far in advance. You can get great savings by booking early but be sure of your itinerary because if you have to cancel or change your travel dates you'll likely end up forfeiting any savings you had made.

13. Make sure you always book your flights at least 3 weeks in advance.

14. Consider traveling on the so-called red eye flights. You can save a significant amount by flying overnight, sometimes as much as 30%. You'll miss out on seeing the scenery you might see during the day but you'll be more likely to snooze your way through the flight and time will go by faster.

Guide to Car Rental Companies in Costa Rica

"My time's limited … how do I choose?"

Car rental is a hot topic for vacationers headed to Costa Rica. Recent research conducted by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT) indicates that, after accommodations, renting a car is the largest expense, averaging $ 702 for an eleven-day vacation.

The Internet is buzzing with negative reviews discussing overcharging, poor customer service and mechanical breakdowns. You might have even written one yourself!

A typical midsize (3 – 4 adults) 4X4 rental runs between $ 58 and $ 65 daily with third party insurance and rates can vary as much as 20 percent among car rental companies, so reading a quick review once you calculate the savings .

So the question is; which rental company offers the best balance of fair price, capable customer service and reliable vehicles? I've researched it all for you, so keep reading!

Disclosures: This research was conducted in May – July 2013. The following companies were selected because they are the most widely used in Costa Rica. Some are local companies; others are international franchises of recognized brand names. Comparisons include: customer service, pricing and the reservation process. The companies are listed alphabetically and not based on personal or online preferences.
Consider this information before renting:

Insurance

One of the largest causes for complaints is from the stack of unforeseen charges presented to the renter once standing at the rental company's counter. Vacationers are typically tired after a long flight and then are confused by costs that were not anticipated, explained or substanteted.

Topping the list of grievances is the non-disclosure of fees associated with the mandatory third-party insurance at the time the reservation is made.

According to Costa Rican law, every driver is required to carry liability coverage to insure against injuries to third parties. Car rental companies generally refrain from disclosing the cost of this policy in the quoted rental rate to appear more competitive. Mandatory third-party insurance can sometimes be as much as double the vehicle's rental cost. The only guarantee against insurance confusion is to inquire if your estimate includes the third party insurance and insurer on a written quotation.

Cost of Mandatory Insurance (also called Third Party or SLI)

Expect to pay between $ 12 and $ 15 daily for this insurance, depending on the make and model of the rented vehicle and the rental car agency. This is a legal condition of your rental agreement and is generally not covered by credit cards and can not be waived. It's a fact of renting a car in Costa Rica.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

As the name suggests, this is not insurance, but a waiver, which relieves the renter from any liability for damage to the rental car after the deductible is paid (usually from $ 750 to $ 1,500). Some agencies require renters to purchase their CDW policy; theby negating any credit card program. For an additional fee, many agencies do offer a zero liability option where the renter will be freed from paying for any damage to the car. Some companies may put pressure upon renters to purchase the zero liability coverage; however, it is entirely optional, unless it is in the fine print of their rental agreement.

Credit card insurance programs may cover the CDW for a rental vehicle. Check with your chosen rental car company to find which proof of insurance is needed and then request that from your credit card company prior to arriving. If you use your credit card's CDW policy, expect to pay a higher deposit on the vehicle; around $ 1,500 to $ 2000 is common. The higher deposit ensures that the credit card holder has sufficient financial reserves to cover damages if needed. It is important to consider that if using CDW coverage provided by a credit card (in lieu of the rent a car operator), all damages will be billed to the renter's credit card. The credit card company will then refund the card holder for damages.

More Insurance

Tires and windshields are rarely included in insurance policies, although additional policies may be taken out for covering these frequently damaged items. Neither the interior nor the underneath of the vehicle may be covered. Always read the fine print.

Standard Procedure

Your credit card will be charged, or a 'hold' placed, for the rental vehicle during the time of the rental agreement; ie from picking up the rental until you return it. Debit cards are generally not acceptable.

Additional Charges

Most companies have surcharges for additional drivers, car seats / boosters, cell phones, coolers, GPS and / or roof racks. The costs vary from company to company, but since these extras are billed at a daily rate, it is worth checking the total cost – additional options can add up very quickly! A GPS is around $ 8 to $ 10 per day; however, some operators may offer discounted units. Expect to pay around $ 5 daily for a child seat and a few dollars a day for all the other 'niceties'. Vamos is notable for offering most of these options and, during some promotions, even the GPS rental complimentarily. Alamo, Budget, Hertz and National charge the most for such additional options; whereas the other companies listed, charge more reasonable prices.

Surcharges

Most companies add small incremental costs, such as license plate and environmental fees, into the total tally. Be wary of operators who insert these additional charges into the small print of the rental contract. Vehicles rented direct at the airport incur airport taxes, which are a whopping 12% of your rental cost!

The rental vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel, without otherwise indicated. If not, companies may charge above gas station rates for missing fuel.

Vehicles

There is a debate over the vehicles provided by rental companies: Older cars allow the driver to blend in more than a shiny, new car. Having an older model may have the indirect benefit of being less scrutinized by car rental agencies for recent nicks and scratches, unlike a newer vehicle. However, a newer vehicle may be more roadworthy. This debate carries on into the different vehicle makes and models. Typically, Costa Rican firms are able to rent their vehicles for a lower rate because their cars are typically three to five years old (versus two to three). Online reviews would suggest that the local firms have no more complaints relating vehicle quality than transnational franchises; research on forums, such as TripAdvisor.com, seems to indicate that customers frequently appreciate driving a less-than-new vehicle through the wilds of Costa Rica. The reasons are plenty, from road conditions to the notification of less-then-new vehicles blending in better – a newer vehicle may draw more unwanted attention.

The choices of rental cars in Costa Rica are mostly limited to makes and models that maintain a competitive resale value, are a common brand in the country, and are inexpensive to maintain. As such a rent-a-car operator's fleet tend not to be as diverse as the United States. Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Hyundai measure the mainstay brands of most rental fleets.

Sometimes, drivers are charged for promised 'damages' to the vehicle upon return. Once receiving the vehicle, renters should meticulously check for pre-existing flaws and compare it with the vehicle inspection document used by the rental car representative. Some renters suggest photographing or videoing the vehicle from all angles, to avoid any discrepreement between pre-existing and recently damaged items.

Pricing

Car rentals in Costa Rica are pricier compared to other countries. Duties on vehicles are high (as much as 50% of their value!), Parts are costlier and unforgiving road conditions contribute to higher wear and tear, generating higher maintenance costs.

The rule is you get what you pay for – there are other options than those rental companies listed here, but they are not listed for a good reason. They simply fail to offer basic customer service and / or a suitable vehicle condition required for a (near) trouble-free vacation.

When comparing rental car charges, it is best to go directly to the Costa Rican website of the rental car company, rather than trying to use their international format or an interim (Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Kayak, et al.). For the same vehicles and reservation dates, the rates offered by the relative international vs. Costa Rican websites for Alamo, Budget, Hertz and Thrifty differed substantially.

To avoid confusion, print out all correspondence with the car rental company with what you have reserved a vehicle and bring this to the rental office with the quote given at the time of reservation.

The following top ten chart ranks the companies from highest priced to lowest and it includes the mandatory insurance charge. In the cases of Alamo and Hertz, the figure contains their CDW fee as it is one of their rental requirements. This price comparison is based on a week's rental of a Daihatsu Bego, where available (Dollar offers the Suzuki Vitara) from September 14th – 21st, then again in December to view both Green and High Season rates. The list quickly demonstrates that the price variation depends very much on the company – for basically the same service. These prices were obtained in June / July 2013.

Comparison Review

Customer Service

Vamos and Wild Rider respond quickly and efficiently to email or live chat inquiries. Adobe, Alamo, Dollar, Hertz, National, and Service responded to email inquiries in less than 24 hours, but Adobe and Service did not provide all the information requested (possibly a language barrier). Budget offers a free phone service, but it appears to be always busy. Hertz's live chat appears to be regularly offline. During the past year, customers who posted to online review sites expressed a particular satisfaction with the customer service offered by Service, Vamos and Wild Rider.

Clarity

Adobe, Alamo and Budget have different rental prices posted on their websites than those quoted over the phone. Telephone prices were lower than that quoted on the website in the cases of Adobe and Alamo, but yet higher in the case of Budget. Adobe also offers different vehicle models over the phone as compared to their website. International car rental firms with both a Costa Rican and international website appear to have pricing differences between the two sites.

Budget and Wild Rider include the mandatory insurance in their rental prices, but Budget states that 'other charges' which will be presented at the counter in the small print on their website. Rental prices for car seating had to be verified on the phone as they are not listed on the Budget website.

All other companies with the exception of Thrifty (a US website), clearly show the mandatory insurance cost with the quotation given. Thrifty's Costa Rican website is simply unusable.

Pricing

Service, Vamos and Wild Rider consistently offer the best rates for both Green and High seasons, although Dollar has one of the lowest Green season rates available, while Adobe has a cheaper High season rate. Vamos offer the best "all inclusive" rates, given that most options are offered for free.

Adobe, Dollar, Service, Thrifty and Wild Rider remain competitive with their pricing of items such as child seats. Alamo, Hertz and National are the most expensive companies to rent from and their additional option costs are also more expensive.

"So, what's your rental recommendation?"

Overall, the Costa Rican companies seem to trump the multi-nationals with better pricing, service and clarity.
Service offers a generally high-level of customer service and fairly competitive pricing at both international airports.
Vamos can offer efficient booking and continued high-level of customer service with competitive pricing, as well as free additional options at both SJO and LIR airports.
Wild Rider is very highly rated for a rental with clear and economic pricing and excellent customer service, but they are only in San Jose.

"Now you're ready to book your rental car after seeing how the competition compares. Good luck and happy travels!"
